Glebe Liquor is a local institution; a bottle shop with a difference and personality. Owned and operated by Tim and Louise Smith, Glebe Liquor is a second generation family business . Situated in the pointy end of Glebe, the store has been part of the Glebe community for nearly thirty years. If you are looking for wine that you don’t see everywhere else or an eclectic range of beer and cider, spirits and liqueurs then this is the place to visit. You will soon see why Tim refers to it as A Grown Up’s Lolly Shop.

Joining Tim and Louise as part of the Glebe Liquor family is Dave with nearly ten years of experience working in the store. Between Tim, Louise and Dave, there is an abundance of experience and knowledge of not only the products in store but of all things liquor related. As an independent bottle shop, the team at Glebe Liquor understands the importance of developing and maintaining relationships with customers. Speak to Tim about the state of the industry, ask Louise for an insight into the winemaking process or test Dave to see if he can remember that bottle of wine that you loved two weeks ago.

Upon visiting the shop, you will notice that the wines are not classified by varietals or regions but arranged according to price point under headings like Struggle Street, Easy Street, Suburbia and Nob Hill. You will also find yourself having a quiet chuckle at the quirky recommendations of various bottles that are witty, sometimes controversial but always funny, such as P.R.I Factor or If you're thinking divorce, serve this. Tim, Louise and Dave don’t take themselves too seriously and use humor to promote wine rather than relying on the traditional marketing of reviews, ratings and medals (medals are for winemakers not the consumer and shouldn’t influence the purchasing of a wine). When suggesting a wine, the team considers your budget (are you after a quaffer or are you splashing out), what the wine is for (is it with dinner or a cheeky glass with friends on a Friday afternoon) and what the weather's like outside (do you really what a Barossa shiraz to accompany you on a sticky summer evening). Tim, Louise and Dave believe that personable service, extensive knowledge and a diverse range of products are the backbone of any local bottle shop.
